Miss South Central Fair Scholarship Pageant
Rules And Regulations
- Contestant must be single, never married, without children, and never having been pregnant.
- Contestant must be between the ages of 16-22 on or before pageant date October 11, 2011.
- Contestant must be female who has always been female.
- Contestant must possess good moral character having never, at any time, been convicted of any crime nor have any criminal charges against her, and must never have committed an act or engaged in any activity which is or could be characterized as dishonest, immoral, indecent, or in bad taste. This includes MySpace, Facebook, and any web pages or any other electronic means.
- Contestant must be a Virginia resident and CAN have competed/won in the Miss South Central Fair Scholarship Pageant more than once. Contestant must never have been a previous Miss Virginia Association Of Fairs titleholder.
- Contestant must submit a completed application to be received by the Miss SCF Pageant Director at the noted delivery address no later than SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24, 2011, 5:00P.M.

** CONTESTANT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE WITHOUT A COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKET.
7. Contestant and all accompanying members or guest will conduct themselves in a proper “lady-like” manner at ALL times. Any display of uncooperative or unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification of the contestant.
- Contestant must be at rehearsal in order to participate. This rehearsal is CLOSED to the public. Date October 9, 2011, 4:00P.M. Fairgrounds Grand Stand.
- The South Central Fair provides dressing areas for the Contestant and 1 Chaperone located behind the stage. Only the Contestant and Chaperone will be allowed in the dressing area pageant night due to lack of space. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!! Contestant may wish to bring an additional mirror, extension cord, etc.
- Top Five contestants will present their one-minute platform speech on-stage.
- Miss SCF 2011 and all runners-up must remain on stage for pictures until dismissed by the SCF Pageant Director. Well-wishers are asked not to rush the stage. All runners-up will receive scholarship directly after pictures are taken.
- The first runner-up must be willing to assume all duties in the event that the winner is unable or unwilling to fulfill her reign.
- Miss South Central Fair 2011 will receive responsibilities throughout the year, also required to participate in all county functions to include, but not limited to, Boydton Day Parade, Clarksville, Chase City, & South Hill Christmas parades. If you wish to attend any other festivals, you are required and notify the SCF Pageant Director before hand!!
- Miss South Central Fair 2011 is eligible and required to compete in the Miss Virginia Association of Fairs Scholarship Pageant 2012. The SCF Pageant Director will provide complete details, The SCF Association will provide hotel room expenses only.
- All judge’s decisions are final!!!!
- There will be new Miss America/Miss Virginia certified judge’s each year.
- The South Central Fair Association and Pageant Committee does not assume the liability of any lost or stolen items!!!
- Winner receives $500.00, Dozen Roses, Beautiful Round Crown, Trophy, and Sash. 1st runner-up receives $200.00, Flowers, and Trophy. 2nd runner-up receives $100.00, Flowers, and Trophy. 3rd and 4th runners-up receive Trophy. “Peoples Choice Winner” will receive a maximum amount of $200.00 and Trophy.
- Each contestant and 1 chaperone will be admitted to the pageant free of charge. You will receive entry passes at rehearsal.
- A $25.00 LATE FEE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
- Except for signatures, ALL APPLICATION FORMS MUST BE TYPED (NOT HANDWRITTEN).

MISS SOUTH CENTRAL FAIR SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
CONTESTANT REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION
PRIVATE INTERVIEW accounts for 50% of the total score will begin on pageant day at 4:00P.M. Required dress for interview competition is business attire. Can be a dress, pant suit or skirt and blouse. The first one(1) minute of the (4) minute interview, the contestant will present an overview of her chosen platform. If the contestant exceeds the one (1) minute time limit, five (5) points per judge will be deducted from her OVERALL score. No props or note cards will be allowed. Judging will be based on personality, poise, speaking ability, presentation, personal achievement in education, and civic and community participation.
PERSONALITY WEAR accounts for 25% of the total score will be done in a fast-paced modeling style walk, which will be taught at rehearsal. An outfit of your choice that best displays your personality is to be worn. Each contestant will present their public speaking presentation in this outfit. Please be tasteful when choosing this outfit.
EVENING GOWN COMPETITION accounts for 25% of the total score will be done in a specific modeling pattern taught at rehearsal. Contestant will wear a floor length formal evening gown. After the evening gown competition is completed, all scores will be tabulated to give the top five contestants. Each top-five contestant will have one (1) minute to present an overview of her chosen platform.
PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD spectators vote $1.00per vote during intermissions for the contestant they feel is best candidate for the position. The winner (determined by dollar amounts collected) will receive a maximum amount of $200.00 along with a trophy. The funds will be forwarded to the winner by the Pageant Director. Any additional funds kept by the pageant will go back into the scholarship fund.
PHOTOGENIC AWARD each contestant if required to bring ONE (8X10) BLACK AND WHITE OR COLOR PHOTO of themselves to be judged before the pageant starts. Headshots work best for this event. Contestant is required to bring this photo to the rehearsal in a simple stand-alone frame.
DRESSING AREAS will be provided for you during the pageant. They will be open Tuesday at 3:00p.m. This area will be for the contestant and ONE chaperone ONLY! If you plan on having a makeup artists or hairstylist they will need to stay outside the dressing area, we have a very small space to work with. PLEASE COME PREPARED!
PHOTOGRAPHY/DVD there will be a photographer on-site for this event. You may wish to purchase the pageant photos and or DVD in advance. There will be a table set up before and during the pageant for this. I may get the photo-pricing sheet before hand to forward on to each contestant to pre-order.
PAGEANT TEE-SHIRTS each contestant is required to purchase the official pageant shirt at $15.00 per shirt. However, I would love to be able to GIVE each contestant their shirt for FREE this year. The contestant that can pre-sell 3 or more shirts before the pageant will receive a FREE pageant shirt! I will accept checks, cash or money orders and for this only can be made out to the pageant director – Shauna Newcomb. This will need to be turned in with the application and shirts will be handed out during the rehearsal. Please include shirt sizes and quantity.

I hereby understand and agree to abide by all the rules and regulations set forth. I also acknowledge the below signatures and all the information provided for this competition are truthful and correct and are not a forgery. I realize that the breaching of this contract will forfeit all awards, and I will return all awards presented (including scholarship monies) as property of the South Central Fair Association.
I accept full responsibility for my actions, releasing The South Central Fair Association, the Pageant, and it’s representatives harmless of my actions or any other hardships.
